Angola condemns Togo team attack

In a statement published on state-owned news agency Angop, the Angolan government blamed the attack on members of the Front for the Liberation of the Enclave of Cabinda (FLEC), a separatist group that has waged a three-decade long war against the government.

“The FLEC group that carried out this terrorist action came from the Republic of Congo and that is where it returned to after completing this action,” it said.

Angolan Sports Minister Goncalves Muandumba was also quoted as saying that Angola would beef up security during the competition to guarantee “all the conditions necessary for the success, tranquility and security of the people and their belongings.”
